Creating Evergreen Blog Articles for Family PhotographersBlogging is a great way to educate, inform, and showcase your clients from a portrait session. As professional photographers, we hear we should blog about our sessions with clients. However, there is so much more that may be blogged and spoken about. In this article, I’m going to give several blog topics ideas on what family photographers can discuss in upcoming articles. Highlight Your Favorite SessionYes, this is a typical blog idea. Many of us photographers make the mistake of only showcase the pretty pictures from the portrait session. However, turn the blog into talking about the location as well as why the locations were great for this family. Why is this location a great spot for photography? Is parking free, are there a lot of scenic surroundings? Writing about locations in your specific area is also helpful for SEO. As potential clients are looking for information about a particular location, your website has a greater chance of being found in search engines. For example, I photograph clients in Los Angeles as well as Northern Virginia. Therefore, when I’m writing blog posts, I put the city’s name and/or name of the park we photographed in. Example:
Share Something PersonalWhat can you share with your readers about your personal life? You may talk about getting your kids ready for school, your favorite restaurant, what do you do for a date night, struggles with infertility, an upcoming vacation, and more. It’s an opportunity for readers to see behind the veil. Each month you can write a personal blog post discussing some things you are facing. Consider writing a blog post that consists of 10 funny things about you. Share A TestimonialSharing a testimonial is a great way for potential clients to learn the thoughts from others who have worked with you. Sometimes, people are not on Facebook or can’t find your business on Google, but if they find the review from a previous client on your blog, it may be the push a potential client needs to book a portrait session with your studio. Write Helpful ArticlesWhat to wear, how to keep kids calm during a portrait session, how to select a portrait location; these are some articles that may be helpful information for clients or potential clients. Look for ways to fill the void and answer questions that potential clients are looking to attain information about their upcoming portrait session.
Getting ReadyAs a professional photographer, there are lots of things we do to get ready and prepare for a portrait session. Writing a blog showcasing some of the things you do to get ready…packing your camera bag, lights, car, charging batteries, etc. Share Information That Has Nothing to Do With PhotographyAs photographers, we’re always sharing photography related information. However, your faithful readers will also love if you share helpful information that not photography related. For example, fun things to do during the summer, places for fall autumn drives, favorite pumpkin patches, and more. Since we are quickly approaching fall, now is a great time to write something about things to do this fall in your local area, or scenic places to enjoy a warm drink in your city. What Time is Best for Portrait Sessions? You’ll be surprised, how many people want to take family pictures in the middle of the day. Oh no! Let’s not do that. Writing an article about why it’s not a good idea is a great blog. Best Way Organize Digital ImagesDigital images are all the rage today. Maybe your clients need ideas on how to organize their family pictures. These tips will help them be able to find different pictures of their kids and family as a whole. Do you place them in a folder, organize them by year, month, and day? Why Clients Should Hire a Professional PhotographerAs professional photographers, we know why clients should hire us to take their family pictures, but do the people looking for a professional photographer know why they should hire you? Your blog is an opportunity to showcase why you should be hired versus another photographer in your town. Is there something that stands out about you and your photography studio? Do you do something that or provide a photography service another studio doesn't offer? This blog is a great way to discuss and showcase what you do. ConclusionWhen writing your blog posts, look for ways to create evergreen articles. These are articles that will be helpful and beneficial to readers regardless of when they read them. However, you’ll want to go back and update them occasionally to ensure the correct information is stated, and your articles never goes out of date. Having evergreen blog posts will keep readers coming back to your article, even sharing your website to other potential photography clients. I hope this information was helpful.
