Air Force Promotion Ceremony at National Archives

Congratulations to one of the Air Force's newest Colonels - Colonel Stevens. We meet in Washington DC at The National Archives Museum for Colonel Steven's promotion ceremony. The ceremony was held in the Rotunda of the museum beside the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

As an Air Force veteran and a wife of an Airmen, I've been to many promotion ceremonies. I'm always honored when fellow veterans and spouses contact me wanting to hire me to photograph their promotion ceremony (even more so when it's held at the National Archives) and this ceremony was no different.

Becky contacted me a few weeks ago to determine if I was available to photograph her husband's promotion ceremony. I'm so thankful and grateful I was able to witness this special ceremony.

I usually arrive 30-45 minutes early to the National Archives to photograph the outside of the building; to capture the overall mood of the day before the ceremony. However, the Nelson family was so excited about this wonderful career achievement, that once I arrived, I jumped right in (to my surprise I'm usually the first to arrive).

It’s a bold summer afternoon. The scene is the Seine River. The three musketeers are trying to take a picture, quick one for the gram, before, you know, getting back to the mission. Athos grumbles that he is too old, Aramis pouts about his fingernails, Porthos insists on showing off his new fancy helmet in the picture, D’Artagnan, bothered with seeking his fortune, has no time for visual frivolities. The three musketeers find themselves in a pickle. Nobody to take this great, historic picture…

Naval Retirement Ceremony | National Archives | Washington D.C.

When I received an email a few months back inquiring as to my availability to photograph a Navy retirement ceremony at the National Archives in Washington D.C., I didn't hesitate to say, "yes". We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful summer day in the Nation's Capital. Like many ceremonies held at the National Archives, it's not a traditional ceremony because the nation's documents are held in the Rotunda.

My philosophy about milestone birthday portrait sessions is to simply allow your child to be themselves and photograph their personality. Their smile, laugh, the way they hold their head, etc... are all the things that quickly change as they grow up.

National Archives Promotion Ceremony

Congratulations to Lt. Col Popp on his promotion to Lieutenant Colonel!!! Getting promotion in the military in a tremendous achievement. It is no doubt, all the military men and women work hard to protect our country and the promotion is a reward for their hard work and dedication. Lt. Col Popp ….. held his promotion ceremony in Washington D.C. at The National Archives and it was witnessed by several family members.
