Is Blogging Dead?
Is blogging worth your time and effort as a photographer? Is it something you should invest in doing or work on another type of marketing for your photography business? Let’s talk about it.
Over the last few days, I’ve seen various posts in different Photographer groups on Facebook at blogging and wondering if blogging is dead. The conversation usually diverts to SEO (Search Engine Optimization), when to blog, how to blog, and various other questions. So, in this blog, I wanted to address the importance of having an active blog on your website. Your website can be a valuable space for your followers and other people looking for information that you will be providing based on photography issues, sessions you've photographed, personal information about your life, and other information you think your viewers would find valuable.
Yes, blogging also helps your photography website climb higher on Google's ranking.
SEO Tips for Photographers
One of the biggest things I can say that has contributed to the success of my photography business is SEO (Search Engine Optimization). I've moved several times and with moving comes the need to restart the process of finding clients. I've had so many photographers reach out asking for help with SEO. So last year, I had the opportunity to sit down and write an SEO ebook for photographers.
I wrote the book because I wasted so much time attempting to get my photography website to the first page of Google with little success. So every time I made a change to the metadata and behind the scene information for my website, I would write it down to annotate what was working.
