Double celebrations are the best. Captain Wong and his beautiful wife were both in a celebratory mood as yesterday was a big day for both of the collectively as well as individually. Yesterday was Captain Wong's ceremony date for promotion to Major and it was also his wife's birthday day.
Yesterday was one of the most recent warm and beautiful days in the Nation's capital. It's beginning to feel like spring.

Smiles, laughter, salutes, and hugs are the beginning to this wonderful Army military promotion ceremony at the National Archives in Washington D.C. The rain held off long enough for Major Kruper’s friends and family to meet and greet outside the museum and catch up on some laughs.
It was a beautiful day in Washington D.C. for a military promotion ceremony. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, hint of rain, but there was a little chill in the air. The family arrived with lots of excitement and anticipation. Their smiles are infectious. Major Townsend introduced his family to his friends. It was also an opportunity for their son to get a last minute play time in with his octopus.
When I got married over 23 years ago and had children, my husband and I realized we had to do fun family things for Valentine’s Day. As a military family, we didn’t have family living nearby to drop our children off with, so we had to be creative. While living in Northern Virginia things haven’t changed. At this point we have created a system of different ways to celebrate this love holiday together.
Since Valentine’s Day is on Wednesday this year; instead of a date night, my husband and I have a date lunch. Even if we can’t go and have lunch at a fancy restaurant, just sitting together eating a sandwich and chips is romantic. Because we don’t have to yell at any of our children; it’s just us two. However, as a family photographer, I know you’re probably looking for ways to celebrate your family on this holiday and document the memories you’ll create. Let’s discuss a few awesome ideas you can do with your family and make memories that will last generations.
Now my eldest is the king of this game. It has taught him how to be strategic and think several moves ahead. It’s to the point where no one wants to play because we know we’re going to lose…I know it’s sad.
Another one of our favorite family games is Trouble. We love all these games, because they’re appropriate for children and adults of all ages. When it’s time for family pictures, are you a Mom that says not me, just the kids? One day your children and grandchildren will look for photos of you and what will they find? Do you become self-conscience of your looks when it comes to photographs and hesitate to take family pictures? As a Northern Virginia family photographer, the most common response I hear is “I need to lose weight”.
