You’ve scheduled your family's fall portraits with your favorite Northern Virginia Family Photographer, Tamieka Smith, and now it’s time to determine what everyone will wear for your pictures. I totally understand this is hard work and there are a lot of things to consider when selecting the best outfits. However, this should be one of the most fun parts of scheduling your family’s pictures.
Do you remember the 90s, when everyone was matchy-matchy? Yes, those are the days of the past. Your family pictures are a great way to show off your individual personality and family’s unity. This blog post will highlight some tips on how to select your family’s clothing for this fall portraits.
It's Friday and yes, the last weekend before school returns next week. I know i'm not the only parent celebrating! So this weekend, i've been thinking about different things I could do with my boys to give them one last hooray before they pick up their backpack and walk to the bus stops. In today's Friday Fives, here are five suggestions for things to do before school returns on Monday for Prince William County Schools in Northern Virginia and other surrounding school districts.
Have you watched the Disney movie CoCo? Earlier this summer, my boys and I watched this movie and it was a true treat. We begin watching the movie without any expectations or knowing anything about the movie. I just kept hearing that it was a great movie to watch. So I finally broke down and watched the movie (especially since we've been having raining afternoon and evening in Northern Virginia).
It's currently summer, but with all the rain it really doesn't feel like it. As a matter of fact, I mentioned to my husband earlier this week, it seems like fall. The leaves on the trees are starting to change colors and drop to the ground. With all the rain and the low temperatures, I believe the trees are confused; because we can't be this close to having cold temperatures and snow.
Thoughts of warm cookies, hot chocolate, pumpkins, apples, apple cider and so much more. This got me to thinking, what are my top things to do this upcoming fall season in Northern Virginia with my family. You know it's also a popular time for baking. I'm also sharing my family's recipe for these quick chocolate chip cookies.
Almost weekly, I drive to the National Archives Museum in Washington D.C. to photograph a military ceremony. It’s always an honor when military families trust me to photograph their treasured memories of having their ceremony in front of the United States Constitution.
However, once the ceremony is over, now it’s time for the member and their family to decide how they would like to display their memories. There are several options to choose from; album, framed portrait, canvas, and more. Today, I’ll be highlighting the beauty of a framed portrait. Frames from Tamieka Smith Photography really are stunning and museum quality.
Many overlook the significance of hiring a professional photographer to capture their family’s legacy. Yes, your life is a legacy for your family’s future generations. Like many areas of the country, there are several people in Northern Virginia that have a “good camera” and can take pictures.
Yes, I know and understand the belief that if a camera is good it must take great pictures, but this is a false belief. There are so many things that go into being a professional family photographer and ensure your best memories are captured for you to endure for years to come. Did somebody say food?!! Oh my goodness a location filled with different food trucks...i'm there. Yes Truckeroo is a summertime event in Washington D.C. There are several food trucks that come together have a monthly festival. Although i'm in Northern Virginia, attending the Truckeroo is such a short drive and well worth it.
Today, August 10, is the day for this month's festival. Let me tell you the top five reasons I like Truckeroo. As a military member serving in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, there are so many beautiful locations/venues for a military ceremony. In addition, it’s easy to forget these great memories that will be photographed and captured during your promotion or retirement ceremony; especially when the pictures are locked away on your laptop, smartphone or social media.
“I just want the digital files” …that’s an email I recently received. Unfortunately, many photographers here these words more often than we care to admit. However, printing your military ceremony pictures and hanging them in your home, you’ll be able to see, enjoy, and remember them every day.
If you're reading this blog from Northern Virginia, you will totally understand this question; will this rain stop soon? It's been raining for nearly two weeks straight. Since we're still in the midst of summer vacation, I needed to find something to occupy my children's time during the season of continuous rain. Here is a list of my Friday Fives that I was able to do this week and this weekend. I would love to share with you and hopefully it's helpful for you and your family especially since it's projected to continue to rain and storm next week.
