Five Stylish Tips To Look Amazing During Your Mini Session
Many family photographers like to have mini-sessions that are holiday or special theme-based. You will have the chance to dress to the occasion and get creative with costumes, colors, and accessories.
Did you know the clothes that are worn during a family’s portrait session can make or break a portrait? Family pictures that have excessive patterns and everyone has strips can make for a busy picture. If the outfit outshines the people in the photo, then reconsider the outfit.
The clothing choices for your family portrait should disappear and the faces of the people within the portrait should shine and stand out; not what they’re wearing. Let’s examine and check out these awesome suggestions on what you and your family could wear to be picture perfect:
1. Coordinate your outfits, but don’t match. Choose a simple color palette and go from there. This will give everyone the option to pick an outfit of their own, but still be subtle and fit the scene.
Today is Save Your Photos Day
Today is National Save Your Photos Day. It’s a day to bring out your old family pictures and reminisce about your family’s memories. Yes, it’s a day to bring out giant family photo albums and look at your siblings, mom, dad, grandparents, and pictures of other family members.
With the rise of digital cameras and social media, we as a people have begun to rely solely on digital images and pictures on our mobile devices. However, with only digital images, your family pictures can get misplaced, deleted, or damaged at any moment. I was quickly reminded over the weekend, that computers fail. I don’t want you to be like me and have all your precious family pictures stored on your computer and then your computer fails. Can you imagine the gut sinking feeling?
A few weeks ago, I made this post on Facebook regarding how technology changes, and you don't want to have your family's portraits get lost on obsolete technology.
If you remember, not to long ago, CDs were the rave. You could find them everywhere; on your computer, DVD, car, etc. Families used CD to store their family pictures, to listen to music and more.
Then we moved to USBs. Have you purchased a new computer recently? USB drives are typically not included in a standard computer purchase.
Mom & Son Portraits in Palos Verdes
Family pictures are priceless to have in your home. It's an opportunity to look at the person or people you love the most!
Earlier this year, this beautiful Mom contacted me to photograph her and her handsome son. We discussed a potential date and location for their family portraits. We agreed upon Malaga Cove Library in Palos Verdes.
What is a family portrait session and why should I have one?
Many families are reluctant to have pictures taken because of anxiety and fear that it won’t be fun. However, having your family picture taken is a great way to showcase your family’s true personality, relax, have fun, and create fond memories together.
Portrait sessions are the perfect time to let your silliness come alive and create beautiful moments with your children. Making silly faces and skipping around is the perfect way to start the session and break the ice.
Family Portraits at Malaga Cove Plaza
Malaga Cove Plaza in Palos Verdes is a majestic location to have your family pictures taken; it has a European feel. So, when Claudia reached out to participate in the family model call I was having in March, Palos Verdes was one of the first locations we discussed for her family's pictures.
As you can see from the portrait above, the scene is amazing!
Accordion Book for Birthday Celebration
Your birthday is a great opportunity to have a portrait session to celebrate your birthday. Earlier this year Blossom contacted me regarding photographing her for her 21st birthday portraits. We discussed the desired location for her portrait session as well as her wardrobe based on her portrait location.
We met at Malaga Cove Plaza for Blossom's portraits. We took many amazing portraits, that Blossom had a difficult time selecting the best portraits for her accordion book.
They Grow Up Fast
Ok...I'm sitting over here wondering where has the time gone. It seems like yesterday, I was bringing this fellow home from the hospital. Now I'm hearing him talk about what college he wants to attend next year. What happen? Who can relate?
Beautiful Story Box
Oh yes! I love this Story Box and so do many of my family clients. It's no secret, I'm a hug advocate of family's printing their pictures. We have countless pictures stored on our smartphones and computers, but how many of you can say you have a gorgeous collections or prints of the people you love?
How to Get Real Genuine Smiles
Photographing kids can be a challenge whether you're a seasoned family photographer or a newbie. They will want to become comfortable before they show any personality. As a family photographer in Los Angeles and Northern Virginia, I work hard to make kids laugh and show their authentic personality. Kids are full of energy, but they are completely unpredictable. They can be so adorable and easy going and laughing uncontrollably one minute, and the next minute, turn that charm off completely. Have you noticed, they will typically smile for you all day long until you put them in front of a camera, then they freeze up like a deer in headlights. As a family photographer, I want to help Moms and Dads avoid the gritted teeth and bug-eyed forced smiles during our portrait session.
