Why I Love Jazzy Cakes (and You Should Too!)

Christmas is right around the corner and only a few other holidays have as many wonderful and timeless treats that represent the season.  The fragrance of cakes, cookies, tarts, candy canes, and more saturate the air everywhere you go.  I feel like I’m gaining 10 pounds just thinking about all the great food!

During this time, if you’re like me, many families look for delicious and creative desserts to have for Christmas Lunch/Dinner or for your office holiday parties.  It’s better if you can have delicious desserts and not have to bake or cook them yourself.   

Well, you don’t have to look any further.  Let me introduce you to Jasmine Hardin of Jazzy Cakes.  For the last few weeks, I’ve been seeing videos and pictures of her cakes on Facebook.  I decided to contact Jasmine to learn about her and her business.  After meeting Jasmine, I was fascinated by her story and how she began her business in April 2016.  She articulated, her and husband enjoy cooking and baking.  Jasmine enjoys baking cakes for her family, but one day her husband purchased a bucket of fondant for her to experiment with.  Her eldest child’s birthday was approaching, so Jasmine utilized the fondant to decorate his cake; which was a Monster Car cake.  Being proud and excited about the work she created, Jasmine took to Facebook to share pictures of her creation.  As you can see, her first cake was beautiful.  From there, many of Jasmine’s friends loved her creations as well and was interested in her creating something for them.

After opening her business, many of clients and prospective clients tend to gravitate towards her Red Velvet Cheesecake.  After tasting the cake, I understand why; it’s the best of both worlds.  There is a layer of cheesecake in sandwiched between two layers of Red Velvet cake.  Then the cake is covered with buttercream icing, melted chocolate, and seasonal fruit.  Jasmine believes this is one of her best-selling cakes because she offers an exceptional product and of course it’s delicious.

Although we’re amid the holiday season, Jazzy Cakes also offers other cakes.  Yes, she offers promotion cakes.  As a military family, we’re always looking for a more intricate cake for promotion ceremonies.  If you give Jasmine at least 6 weeks, she’s able to design a cake you, your friends, and family will gush over.    As a military family, we’re always looking to have a creative promotion cake that’s a step above the traditional commissary sheet cake, and Jasmine delivers.   In addition, if you have a little one and you’re looking for a 1st birthday cake for a Cake Smash Portrait Session, Jasmine will work with you to create a cake that represents your one year old.  As a family and military photographer in Northern Virginia, my clients are always looking for recommendations on who to hire for a military promotion or birthday cake for their child.  I’m love her cakes and I know you will also!

As a baker and Mom, herself, I asked Jasmine some tips about storing desserts for the holidays.

• Keep baking soda in your refrigerator.

It keeps your refrigerator fresh and helps to prevent your cake smelling like ham or the other things inside the refrigerator. 

• Remove cake from refrigerator at least one hour before serving

This allows the cake to come to room temperature and eases the cutting process.

• Keep buttercream iced cakes cooled and refrigerated

Otherwise the buttercream will melt and become messy in excessive heat.

• If possible keep cakes and other desserts separate from strong order foods; i.e. BBQ, Greens, etc.
