Today is Save Your Photos Day
Today is National Save Your Photos Day. It’s a day to bring out your old family pictures and reminisce about your family’s memories. Yes, it’s a day to bring out giant family photo albums and look at your siblings, mom, dad, grandparents, and pictures of other family members.
With the rise of digital cameras and social media, we as a people have begun to rely solely on digital images and pictures on our mobile devices. However, with only digital images, your family pictures can get misplaced, deleted, or damaged at any moment. I was quickly reminded over the weekend, that computers fail. I don’t want you to be like me and have all your precious family pictures stored on your computer and then your computer fails. Can you imagine the gut sinking feeling?
Hiring a professional photographer is an experience. We help you create exquisite photos of your family. It would be sad to only place them on social media to last 24-48 hours. Once 48 hours pass, your photos are usually not seen again unless someone “likes” or “hearts” your photo, or it’s brought back up as a memory.
Family photos will last forever if they are taken care of properly. Save Your Photos Day is aimed to remind us how essential it is to preserve our family’s memories, because when we’re gone, those photos are the only thing left behind.
How to Celebrate The Day
Bring out old photos
Back in the day families would store photos in albums. Today is the day to bring them out and reminisce. If you have photos printed that are not organized, let’s get started organizing them. Properly labeled folders are a great way to keep your family’s treasures properly kept.
Many times, the photos were accompanied by handwritten notes. Those handwritten notes are insight into the thoughts of your loved ones and into the signs of the times.
If you have your family pictures stored on your computer, don’t forget to back them up on an external hard drive or iCloud server. Usually backing up your photos doesn’t take too long, but it’s vital. If you’re storing a lot of photos on your phone, they may be taking up a lot of space. It’s said photos usually take up 60% to 70% of storage space on mobile devices.
Why We Celebrate Save Your Photos Day
Taking care of photos is vital to preserve your family’s memories.
Photos are keepsakes for future generations. Have you been able to look at photos from previous generations? Hear the story behind the photos?
Did you know Coffee can be used to develop film negatives?
The photos we take today will become tomorrow’s memories in vivid color. With the rise of digital technology, we’re taking more photographs than ever before. Save Your Photos Day was created to help remind us to preserve our family memories.
This can be done by backing up the photos on our cameras, back up our photos on the family computer, and backing up vintage family photographs. During a natural disaster the first thing people look for are their pictures.
Don't forget to back up your family's pictures. If you're wanting to hire a professional photographer for your next family picture, don't hesitate to give me a call at (571) 250-5073 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. I would be thrilled to photograph your next family portrait.
