Double celebrations are the best. Captain Wong and his beautiful wife were both in a celebratory mood as yesterday was a big day for both of the collectively as well as individually. Yesterday was Captain Wong's ceremony date for promotion to Major and it was also his wife's birthday day. Yesterday was one of the most recent warm and beautiful days in the Nation's capital. It's beginning to feel like spring. Captain Wong had several family members come into town to celebrate. The day started with Captain Wong's promotion ceremony at the National Archives Museum in Washington D.C. Many of his friends and family arrived at the museum with glee and excitement. The morning began with looking at the documents such as The Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and many of the other prized documents; like the Magna Carta. The ceremony was called to order and the Presiding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Col) Lange discussed the lead of to Captain Wong's military career up to this point. There were several funny stories told that brought smiles to the guest. One was so intriguing and Lt. Col Lange asked Captain Wong to share the story of how he received the nickname of "rainbow". At this point, all of the guest were on pins and needles waiting to here the story. Captain Wong began telling the story with a smile and laughter. He details how he was waiting for a call to come through for him to report to duty. In the excitement of it all instead of reporting to duty in his Air Force uniform, he reported in what new basic trainees are called "rainbow"...civilian clothing. At that point his Commanding Officer stated his name would now be Rainbow. Everyone there laughed and smiled because everyone who's been thru (or should I say survived) Basic Training in any of the military services remember the initial days of training and all that is endured. Captain Wong's parents and his wife pinned on his new rank to Major. Then Major Wong was administered the Oath of Office by Lt. Col Lange. Once the Oath of Office was complete, Major Wong address his friends, family, and co-workers and thanked them for attending his promotion ceremony. In addition to his ceremony, he asked his wife to come forward and he gave here a beautiful birthday gift from Tiffany. Yes, that Tiffany; that little blue box is special! Once the promotion ceremony was completed, Major Wong's friends and family went thru a receiving line and congratulated him on his promotion and wished his wife happy birthday.
