National Archives Photographer | Military Event Photographer | Air Force Promotion Ceremony2/27/2017 Regardless of branch of service, with every military promotion comes greater responsibility and an immense sense of pride for not only the military member, but their family as well. I am always honored when other families (fellow veterans) contact me for various events, and a promotion ceremony is no exception. Unlike many military bases and installations, Washington D.C. is fills with countless different famous monuments and museums to hold a memorable promotion or retirement ceremony. One of the most popular locations is The National Archives. It was such a beautiful February day at the National Archives Museum in Washington D.C. The sky was extremely blue and the weather was warm. For it to be the month of February, it felt as if we were in the middle of spring. A wonderful day for an Air Force promotion ceremony. If you haven't been to The National Archives, it's the home to our nation's founding documents. The documents are located in the Rotunda. As we entered the Rotunda, everyone took time to look at the documents. After a few moments, the friends and family were gathered together to hear the outstanding accomplishments of the military member and the numerous different sacrifices this family has made. Then the Oath of Office was administered with the United States Constitution in the background. It's always a highlight when it's time to change the rank of the military member, because usually the member's children, parents, and/or spouse change their insignia on their uniform. This ceremony was a little extra special, because the member's father, who is also a retired military member, gave him his first salute. It was such an emotional moment and one i'm sure both father and son will cherish forever. After their salute they embraced with a hug. These are just a few of my favorites from this emotional and beautiful promotion ceremony. If you are a military member and have an upcoming promotion or retirement ceremony and would like to have your ceremony captured, don't hesitate to contact me at (571) 250-5073.
