Although it was rather chilly, or I should just say cold, in Washington D.C., the smiles and happiness was abound.
A few weeks ago, Allison inquired about my availability to photograph her husband's promotion ceremony in Washington D.C. at The National Archives. I was over the moon and honored I was available to photograph such a momentous moment in her husband's career and a significant moment for their family.
Prior to going into the museum, the family gathered to take one last family portrait before the promotion ceremony. As you can see the smiles are radiating. Of course, we had to get one of the beautiful couple!
While waiting for the museum to open the Event Doors, I was able to witness and photograph such a special moment. Lt. Commander Lyon helping his Dad with his tie. I need a tissue just writing this. Observing this moment, I could see there is a special bond between them two!
It was also a great time to take those last portraits before promoting to the new rank and greeting their guests. Once inside the museum, Lt. Commander Lyon, his family, and friends were able to look at the documents inside the Rotunda.
After friends and family had an opportunity to view the nation's documents, the promotion ceremony commenced.
Lt. Commander Lyon is being pinned on by his children to Commander.
Once the Oath of Office was administered, everyone gathered for a group portrait in front of The Constitution. How many people can say that?
Enjoy a few of my favorites from the day.
Commander Lyon, congratulations on your promotion and thank you for your dedication and service. I wish you the very best in the advancement of your military career. Allison, thank you for your service and support as well. It was truly a joy getting to meet you and your beautiful family.
