How long of a session do I need? Not sure how much time you need for your custom portrait session? You’ve come to the right place! We’re here to help you figure out the perfect length for your photo session. Many family photographers offer three slots of times: 30 minutes, one hour, and up to two hours. Portrait sessions that are 30 minutes versus two hours can be a huge difference for various reasons. 30 minutes: Thirty minute portrait sessions are commonly known as mini sessions. Which ultimately mean less than a typically custom portrait session. This half hour session is great if you just need some basic photos to document your family. Your family; especially your children are comfortable with strangers and able to open up and be personable with strangers. Due to the short amount of time, you will be allowed one outfit and one location for this session. We can do a variety of poses and headshots in this time and we’ll still get some awesome photos! This time goes by really quickly and many clients have stated they feel rushed. 1 hour: This session will allow your family more time to get creative and more fun family pictures. We can add in another location and additional outfits. Many families are able to get in several poses and locations with this option. Especially if you have younger children. A hour portrait session allows several family groups and time to photograph your children individually. Up to 2 hours: This portrait session time is great for many reasons such as extended family, multiple outfit changes, various locations, and more. This is the ultimate family session. If you have a family pet, this is a great option as well.
