Fun Summer Activities for Kids

It's a new month and if you're like me, you're on the prowl for things to do with your children during the summer months.  I've been looking for several different activities as my boys don't enjoy the same activities.  This list will definitely help to avoid hearing the dreaded "I'm bored" statement from your children this year.

Here's list of summer activity possibilities for families in both Northern Virginia and Los Angeles.

Fun Kid Activities

FREE Bowling
Did you know your child can get two FREE games of bowling everyday with Kids Bowl Free.  FYI: There was a charge for the bowling shoes.  https://www.kidsbowlfree.com/


$1 Movies at Regal Theaters
Yes, I said $1 movies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Regal Theaters.


FREE Microsoft Camp
Your kids can learn coding and and programming from Microsoft employees.  Sign up for camp by visiting this link.


FREE Rollerskating
Do you want to introduce your kids to rollerskating?  Well now they can do it for free.


FREE Apple Camp
For three days, your children can learn about music, coding, and more by attending the Apple camp.  To sign up, visit here.


$6 Tuesdays at AMC Theaters
Don't forget Tuesdays are $6 movie days at AMC Theaters.  These prices are also valid for new release movies.  Check out the upcoming summer movie list.


Visit a Museum

• Smithsonian Museum - Washington D.C.
  Did you know there are over 10 museums in the Washington D.C. area that are free of charge.  Many of them are located around the National Mall, including the Air and Space Museum, the American History Museum and the Natural History Museum. The National Museum of the American Indian has a companion museum in New York City that is also free of charge.
  
  
• Getty Museum - Los Angeles, CA
  The Getty Center may be one of Los Angeles best — and cheapest — date spots, because just about everything is free. In addition to free admission, visitors can check out special exhibits, gallery talks and even curator-led tours for no additional fee. The museum closes at 9 p.m. on Saturday nights, and parking is reduced to $10 after 5 p.m. The cool modern architecture, expansive city views and labyrinthine gardens are just as impressive as the inside exhibits of Western art, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, photos, illuminated manuscripts and decorative arts by European and American artists.
  
  
• Hot Wheels Garage - Los Angeles, CA
  The Automobile Driving Museum is hosting a monthly Hot Wheels Garage on Saturday, August 3 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Children will see life-size Hot Wheels cars, participate in art projects, enjoy face painting, a balloon artist, racing, games, and more. Admission is FREE for children 10 years old and younger.  Adult tickets are $10 each, children 11-17 years old are $5. $3 ice cream sundaes will be available, in a 1950’s-themed ice cream parlor, will also be on sale.
