Updated: September 20, 2020 Family Beverages for a Fabulous FallWhy should you just restrict yourself to baking a mouthwatering pumpkin or sweet potato pie for your family this fall? Why not brew or mix a cup of something equally delicious to go with your slice of pie? With the considerable cooler morning temperatures, this is the time I start looking for warm drinks. My usual go-to is coffee with flavored coffee creamer. My kids love the cooler weather as well because they can drink hot chocolate and the talk of school snow days are the topic of discussion. There are so many heavenly drinks that you and your entire family can sip on as you enjoy this wonderful season. Check out the delicious recipes below, we are sure you will find something that suits your taste buds the best. 1. Coffee Without a doubt the first fall beverage on my list is everyone’s favorite: coffee! Yes, coffee with a flavored creamer – usually hazelnut. Considering the many, many ways it can be brewed and enjoyed, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the entire family has a sweet corner for this delicious beverage. Whether you enjoy a latte, or an Americano or cappuccino or a frappe or a…. Well, you get the idea! Whichever way you like to have coffee, it tastes absolutely amazing. A few years ago when I moved to Northern Virginia, I came across single coffee bags similar to tea bags and they are wonderful. I’m able to brew one cup of coffee instead of an entire pot. I'm already anticipating tomorrow's cup! Updated: A few years ago, coffee started giving me acid reflux. It was a sad day when I had to say goodbye. 2. Pumpkin Tea Fall and pumpkins are almost synonymous; don’t argue with me on this one! If you cannot get enough of having Pumpkins in pies. pumpkin pancakes, or pumpkin butter for biscuits, why not add it to a beverage? Lattes or teas, a little bit of that good ol’ pumpkin flavor added to your favorite beverage will make it taste even better. If you do not quite like the pumpkin taste in lattes and teas, why not try a smoothie? Pumpkin smoothies are obviously a little thick in consistency but definitely worth a try. One of my new found favorites is Celestial Seasonings Sweet Harvest Pumpkin. It has the hint of cinnamon and ginger spice.
4. Hot Chocolate Another favorite drink that is perfect to sip on when the weather starts to get colder is hot chocolate. This is one of my kids’ favorite. You do not have to wait till it actually starts to snow to prepare yourself and/or your family this drink, make some today and enjoy it with the rest of the family. A great addition to hot chocolate is to add whipped cream and sprinkles of cinnamon sugar on top or chocolate carvings. 5. Apple Pie Punch Another Fall Favorite is the apple pie punch. The best part about this drink is that it is so incredibly refreshing. Some apple juice or some cider and a little bit of cinnamon---they all taste super yummy together. Apple Pie Punch Recipe 1 quart Apple Cider/Juice 2 cups Pear Nectar 24 ozs Ginger Ale Directions: Mix together and serve For adults – add apple pie vodka (to taste) 6.
