​I had a great time photographing Terry and Lynne. This was my second time photographing them this year.  They were so much fun to work with, and their love for each other was obvious!

​The setting was the Malaga Cove Plaza at the Palos Verdes Peninsula. This is one of my favorite spots for family pictures on the Peninsula because it has everything: a scenic lookout spot that's perfect for looking out at the ocean; some interesting nooks and crannies that make your photos unique; interesting architecture that can make your photos unique; great lighting in the afternoon hours; and more!

Malaga Cove Plaza is one of my favorite spots on the Peninsula. It's a great place to photograph families and couples, but it's also a great location for taking photos of friends, pets and other members who may not be related by blood. Terry and Lynne are showing us that chivalry is not dead in this modern era with their sweet love for each other. They were so much fun to work with!

​Why? It has a little bit of everything.
You might be surprised to learn that Malaga Cove Plaza is actually a pretty good place for photos. It has a little bit of everything.

• There's a scenic lookout spot that is perfect for...well, looking out at the ocean! Take advantage of it and get some great shots there.
• There are all kinds of interesting nooks and crannies for taking photos. The fountain in the center of this plaza makes for an especially fun place to pose (and it will give you another opportunity to wear your favorite white top).
• And then there's all the interesting architecture around Malaga Cove Plaza—the arches, tiles and pillars can make your pictures unique!

There are also a few great restaurants around Malaga Cove Plaza. This plaza is well-known for its food, and it's definitely worth checking out the offerings of some of these local eateries. The Malaga Cove Deli is located right in front of the plaza, so you can grab a quick meal before heading over there (or after you're done taking your family pictures). This place has an interesting history—it was once owned by actor Steve Martin!

• The view itself
• A beautiful beach wedding with your favorite couple standing in front of an amazing sunset (that would be us!)
• Your kids playing on the playground or enjoying a snack at one of their favorite restaurants (we recommend Yellow Vase)

It has interesting architecture that can make your photos unique.
Malaga Cove Plaza offers a variety of interesting architecture that can be used as a backdrop in your photo. This includes the columns, arches, and siding. The arches and columns are especially unique because they create an open space for you to use as a frame for your subject.

This plaza also has beautiful brick work on the walls which can be used creatively to add depth to your photos or create a unique perspective that sets you apart from other photographers at this location.

It's got great lighting in the afternoon.
Malaga Cove Plaza is a great location to take family photos because it has great lighting in the afternoon. It's best to avoid shooting during midday, but if you do, be sure to position yourself so that you're not facing directly into the sun and casting shadows on your subjects. I find that this plaza is particularly good for taking pictures of couples. Couples often enjoy getting their picture taken together, but sometimes they don't have time to give themselves a makeover before heading out for a photo shoot (although with Tamieka Smith Photographer; we plan all of this out for you). If you take advantage of Malaga Cove Plaza's natural lighting, though, there's no need for makeup or fancy outfits—just bring yourselves!

Conclusion
Lynne and Terry were a pleasure to work with, and it was amazing to see the way they looked at each other. It was clear that they were in love and wanted to share their love with the world! I’d like to thank them both again for choosing me for their family photography session at Malaga Cove Plaza.
