Preparing for Spring Portraits
Spring is one of the most wonderful seasons for many of us, especially if you live in Northern Virginia and Washington D.C.. The air is fresh, the flowers are blooming, people are happy…
Have you scheduled your Cherry Blossom portrait appointment for 2018 in Washington DC? If not, this is a great opportunity to schedule your family portraits. Spring is a wonderful time to have your family photographed. It’s a lot warmer and the beautiful blossoms and the wonderful smells are everywhere.
If you haven’t scheduled your appointment, now is a great time. I will be giving one family who schedules with Tamieka Smith Photography for their Cherry Blossoms before January 21st of this year a complimentary 20 page, 10×10 Heirloom family – a $1500 value! In addition, two families will receive a $300 and $200 credit, respectively.
There is no limit on the number of pictures that may be included in the album, just remember the more pictures you place in the album, the more crowded the pages become. The winners may also upgrade from this album if so desired.
These albums are produced using archival inks and acid-free papers. Then handcrafted using a 1/4" thick moisture resistant, acid-free, warp-free boards and only the finest textile cover materials. These family heirloom albums are created to last for 200 plus years with less than 8% color fade.
It's a New Year and if you're in the Washington D.C. area you know what that means. The Cherry Blossoms will be blooming before we know it. It won't be long before the Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland will be surrounded with the beautiful sights and smells of the Cherry Blossoms. Now is the perfect time to begin looking into hiring your family's photographer. As spring gets closer, many photographers we become sold out and the frenzy and hysteria will begin.
Spring is a gorgeous sight to see yearly and beautiful season in the DMV area. It's a wonderful time to photograph your family in stunning spring colors. For military families, this is a great symbol of Washington D.C. and one of those must have family pictures.
Awe, the beauty of spring is such a wonderful thing. We meet on an early Saturday morning in Washington D.C. for their spring portrait sessions with the Cherry Blossoms. The cherry blossoms are what Washington D.C. is known for during the spring. We had just seen each other a few weeks ago for a promotion ceremony, so it was nice catching up to see what they been doing since we last saw each other.
We met at Hains Point for their session to avoid the crowds of the Tidal Basin. We had such a wonderful time, especially the children. I purchased and use Apple Boxes to create different height perspectives for families when I photograph them. The kids had a great time playing with my Apple Boxes. I never thought the boxes would be such a hit for the kids and how they just loved playing with them. By the time we finished their portrait session, I told the parents they just may have to purchase their own set.
Family Portraits with Cherry Blossoms
Aaahh...it's spring in Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. and that means it's time for Cherry Blossoms. Spring is definitely one of my favorite times of the year because I get to photograph beautiful families and their contagious smiles.
If you've visited Washington D.C. during the peak bloom of the Cherry Blossoms, you know the Tidal Basin quickly fills up with visitors wanting to photograph the beautiful petals of the blossoms. So we opted for a less occupied area - Hains Point. Hains point is a great location for portraits because the streets are lined with Cherry Blossom trees and the people traffic is minimal compared to the hustle and bustle of the Basin.
It was just a few short weeks ago and we were in the middle of 70° to 80° degree weather in the DMV area. With the cherry blossoms in the background, it was the perfect atmosphere for a family portrait. To avoid the numerous people that come to see the sights and scenes of the cherry blossoms near the Tidal Basin, we opted for Hains Point. This area provided us a private scenic view of the blossoms with reduced foot and vehicle traffic.
Where did the warm days go? We thought we were going to have an early spring heat wave. It seems we were tricked. Because of the cold snap, The National Park service has pushed the peak bloom of the Cherry Blossoms in Washington D.C. back another 5 days.
This year's bloom was initially expected for March 14-17 -- but now the National Park Service is thinking it'll be more like March 19-22.
